Power Line Path
Through critical habitat set-aside under the Coachella Valley HCA (Palmwood) and encroaching on residential neighborhoods

The proposed power line path starts in North Palm Springs at a new sub-station LADWP plans to build. It travels north east of Highway 62 through Desert Hot Springs then crosses Indian Avenue. There it takes a sharp right turn to traverse the hills behind Desert Hot Springs in clear view of the residential neighborhoods of Mountain View, Mission Lakes, Paradise Springs and Rancho Del Oro. It then takes a left over the hills and through the Morongo Basin, Yucca Valley, Pioneer Town, Flamingo Heights, Landers and on to Hesperia where it is planned to connect to power lines into Los Angeles.

Coalition Building In Valley To Stop LADWP Project
The Coachella Valley Coalition (CVC) announced the Turtle Club is joining the effort to put a stop to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) 'Green Path North transmission line project'. The project would construct power lines through residential and wildlife areas in Desert Hot Springs.

CVC leaders say the if the project is constructed in the Coachella Valley it will only be the first of several changes in the desert. "If we allow Green Path North, next would be gas lines or water lines going through our communities and desert.".

Senate leader offers plan for `green' power grid

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Senate's top Democrat on Thursday proposed new federal authority to build special power lines that carry renewable energy — like solar and wind power — from remote places.

The measure would give the president authority to declare "renewable energy zones" that have great potential for generating electricity from renewable sources such as wind and solar but which have no high-voltage transmission lines to bring that power to consumers.
